The Left’s Statistical Shell Game on Political Violence

The truth is clear. Political violence in America today has many faces—Islamist, anarchist, Marxist, and yes, a handful of racist thugs who falsely claim the mantle of the right. But the overwhelming, routine street-level violence of the last decade has been left-wing. The riots, the arsons, the intimidation, the mob attacks—they were not MAGA marches. They were left-coded crusades. And pretending otherwise is not just dishonest, it is dangerous.

Every revolution needs its myth, and the American left has chosen one that paints their opponents as the primary source of political violence. From CNN chyrons to DOJ talking points, the story is always the same: the “right wing” is a tinderbox of domestic terror, a greater threat than foreign jihad, organized crime, or the rioters burning cities in broad daylight. But pull back the curtain and the myth collapses. What remains is a cooked ledger, a statistical shell game designed to smear conservatives while excusing the firebrands of the left.

The trick lies not in the violence itself, but in how it is counted. Numbers don’t lie, we are told, but anyone who has ever audited an Enron balance sheet knows they can be taught to fib. By shifting definitions, by narrowing categories, by labeling offenses according to theme rather than motive, the left’s curators of “extremist violence” have built databases that deliver the conclusion before the first incident is coded.

Start with the sleight of hand that equates victim identity with offender ideology. If a Jewish target is attacked, the act is assigned to the “right” regardless of the attacker’s own views. That is how antisemitic assaults committed by pro-Palestinian activists and self-proclaimed Marxists are magically transformed into “far-right” violence. Motive is ignored, and narrative is enthroned. Imagine if law schools taught that a murderer’s politics can be deduced not from his words or associations, but from the race or faith of the victim. It would be laughed out of the classroom—yet in political violence tallies, this is the norm.

The second move is asymmetry in scope. For the right, every bar fight, domestic homicide, or gang shooting involving someone with ugly tattoos or a bad meme history gets counted as “political violence.” For the left, riots that torch cities, arsons at state buildings, and attacks on police are quietly dropped because the casualties weren’t fatal, or because officials preferred to describe the chaos as “mostly peaceful protest.” Inflate one side, deflate the other, and the pie chart delivers the “inevitable” conclusion: the right is the problem.

Then comes the curated time window. Islamist terror on 9/11 killed thousands of Americans and reshaped history—but in certain databases, it is erased as an “outlier.” Take out the single largest act of political violence on U.S. soil, and suddenly the charts can declare that the “far right” is the deadliest threat. If a private accountant deleted the biggest liability on a company’s books, he’d be indicted for fraud. When activist researchers do it, they get citations in The New York Times.

Look at the real cases that were jammed into the right-wing box:

– A Democratic appointee murders Democrats for voting with Republicans on immigration. Labeled “right-wing.”

– A Canadian Green Party voter flying BLM and pride flags attacks Paul Pelosi. Labeled “right-wing.”

– A Marxist arsonist targets Pennsylvania’s governor over Gaza. Labeled “right-wing.”

– A non-binary Club Q regular with a history of psychiatric illness commits mass murder. Labeled “right-wing.”

In each case, the press and their data-priest allies ignored ideology, ignored affiliation, ignored motive. They coded by target. If the victim was a Democrat, a minority, or a progressive cause, the crime was stamped as “right-wing.” This is not analysis. It is propaganda laundering.

Meanwhile, whole categories of left-wing violence are banished from the ledger:

– Antifa assaults on journalists and police.

– BLM riots that caused billions in damage and left dozens dead.

– Pro-Palestinian mobs attacking Jewish students on campuses.

– Eco-extremists setting fires and sabotaging infrastructure.

None of this “counts” in the official arithmetic. But let one disturbed loner with a swastika doodle kill his girlfriend in a fit of rage, and that murder is fed straight into the “right-wing violence” column.

Why does this matter? Because labels drive law. The Department of Justice, the FBI, and Homeland Security allocate their resources according to these charts. When the numbers tell a false story that the right is America’s great violent danger, attention and funding are diverted away from Islamist plots, left-wing terror cells, and the anarchist street armies who have actually destabilized American cities in the last decade. Citizens who simply attend a school board meeting are smeared as “adjacent” to extremism, while actual Molotov-throwing arsonists are quietly dropped from the spreadsheet.

The Founders would recognize this as tyranny by statistic. Jefferson warned that truth can be strangled as easily by sophistry as by force. Here we see the sophistry in its rawest form: non-political crimes coded as conservative, ideological attacks coded as neutral, and a whole side of the spectrum erased from view. The result is not scholarship. It is a cudgel to delegitimize half the nation.

A republic cannot survive if its citizens are lied to about where the fire is burning. We must strip away the cooked numbers, demand motive-based coding, and hold the statisticians to the same standard of honesty that we demand in our courts. Until then, every pie chart peddled by the left is nothing more than a political weapon dressed up in the robes of science.
